Vancancy for Organizational Development Director, Abuja, Nigeria

An Organizational Development Director is needed for a USAID Orphans and Vulnerable Children umbrella grants program in Nigeria. Recruitment is based upon successful award of the project. The Orphans and Vulnerable Children program focuses on the following service delivery:
  • Food and nutrition services
  • Health services
  • Shelter and care services
  • Economic strengthening services
  • Education/learning services and protection services
  • Psychosocial support services
The following are going to be the responsibility of the successful candidate:
  • Building the organizational capacity of local Nigerian sub-grantees.
  • The Organizational Development Director will work with sub-grantees to manage their operations as effectively and efficiently as possible
  • He/she will also design and closely monitors the implementation of organizational capacity building initiatives.
  • He/she participates in national capacity building and systems strengthening initiatives intended to promote local ownership and contribute to the sustainability of HIV and OVC programming.
  • He/she directs and supervises senior OD staff and short and long term technical assistance for the organizational development program.

He/she shall specifically carry out the following responsibilities:
  • Conduct capacity assessments of partner NGOs and CBOs and design organizational development plans.
  • Design and administer trainings around organizational development and oversee ongoing capacity building interventions.
  • Support program officers and partners in providing high quality capacity development services.
  • Collaborate with public agencies to improve regional coordination among OVC activity implementers.
  • Remain up-to-date with latest methodologies, best practices, and donor requirements.
  • Gather data for Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Contribute to regular implementation reports.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Party or Technical Program Director.
Skills Requiered: Candidate must be
  • a creative thinker
  • an indefatigue team player;
  • able to work in partnership with team members, partner agencies and community members; able to write and speak fluent English;
  • willing to live and work outside of Abuja, may be in Kaduna or Enugu.
Knowledge of local languages will be of additional benefit

Education & Experience:
  • He/she must Master’s Degree in Organizational Design and Development, Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Minimum of six years of experience directly working with Nigerian CBOs, FBOs and NGOs to strengthen their organizational development.
  • Three or more years of supervisory experience
  • Broad experience working with Nigerian government agencies.
  • Experience in OVC programs a plus.
